An Ode to Kaif Muradabadi   بقا کی فکر کرو خود ہی زندگی کے لئے (Baqa ki fikr karo khud hi zindagi ke liye) زمانہ کچھ نہیں کرتا کبھی کسی کے لئے (Zamana kuch nahi karta kabhi kisi ke liye) کمال جب ہے کہ اس راہ میں چراغ جلاؤ (Kamal jab hai ke is raah mein chiragh jalao) جو مدتوں سے ترستی ہے روشنی کے لئے (Jo mudaton se tarasti hai roshni ke liye) وہاں ہواؤں کے رخ بھی نگاہ میں رکھنا (Wahan hawaon ke rukh bhi nigah mein rakhna) جہاں چراغ جلاتے ہو روشنی کے لئے (Jahan chiragh jalate ho roshni ke liye) Translation: Think of survival on your own for the sake of life itself, The world does nothing for anyone, ever.   Excellence is when you light a lamp on the path, That has been yearning for light for ages.   There, be mindful of the direction of the winds as well, Where you light lamps for illumination.
